General Manager: Daniel Rao

A veteran in Fiber Optics Industry, Daniel Rao had experienced the whole telecom booming in the 90ths with the Global senior management role in R&D and Engineering in Lucent Technologies. Then he started to pioneer the Fiber Optic technology in datacom business and lead the Commercial Operation in Greater China in Corning Cable System. He spend the last 15 years in developing the Industrial 4.0 system in Advanced Manufacturing both as Senior Consultant and Entrepreneur. He joined Samba Labs to lead the business development and operations. Daniel hold both the bachelor and master degree in Optical Engineering.

Chairman & CTO：Dr. Tong

An esteemed research fellow and entrepreneur, excels in optoelectronics with a Ph.D. from Caltech, he heads Celerity Technologies Inc., which he co- founded. His R&D work in the U.S. has produced innovative optoelectronic products, signal processing chips, RF anti-interference circuits, and chromatic dispersion compensation (including slope compensation,) devices for fiber optic links. Recognized with top industry awards and authoring over 10 papers, Dr. Tong continues to impact the field with over 20 patents.

Chief Scientist：Dr. Yao

An expert in photonics and polarization technologies, Dr. Yao holds the honors of IEEE Fellow and Optica Fellow for his significant impact on engineering and science. Striking a balance between industry and academic, he has been successful both as an accomplished entrepreneur and as a distinguished professor. As the formal founder and CEO of General Photonics Corporation (now part of Luna Innovation, Inc), he was responsible for developing a dozens of innovative products for polarization managements in optical fiber systems (including the well-known squeeze & turn polarization controllers), four of which have won the top industrial innovation awards. As the inventor of the Opto-Electronic Oscillator (OEO), he also co-founded OEWaves to commercialize microwave photonics technologies he and his colleagues developed at JPL. Dr. Yao holds a Ph.D. from USC , with 100+ journal publications, multiple books, 78 U.S. and 30+ Chinese utility patents and 12,000+ citations under his belt.
